Today in between classes I took a chance to listen to Lil Wayne's new album, "Tha Carter IV". I quickly followed it with Keith Murray. In the silence of my commute, I had a vision. Nowadays (thanks largely to social media), everyone is credible. I then made the loose connection to the two albums I listened to today.
Keith Murray tells a story. He raps with flow, and uses words naturally. He still brings with it a battle background. Much opposed to how I see Drake, Lil Wayne, etc.. They lack progression in their rhymes and never really prove a thing by the end of their song.
It seems to be the "social media" conundrum, but instead of anyone being an intellect, anyone can rap. Substance wise, modern hip hop has fallen back in progression, in my mind. It becomes increasingly hard to find a legitimate source of knowledge, much like it has become increasingly hard to find someone who puts the art back into a rhyme and says it how it is, with talent.
I'd conclude, but just listen to this (and check the most popular comment).

Intellect.
This week has brought the start to my first school year. Long nights of espresso and homework are yet to come, but the future does hold promise to many a night time drive, with night drive music.

Revisiting.
It's been quite rare lately, me falling upon music that fits the moment perfectly. It used to happen all the time, but I have come to the realization that I have not been keeping music close enough. Taking it in for a temporary span, but not letting it grow in my mind. Paul Kalkbrenner recently did the BBC Essential Mix. I have one record from him, that I swear will wear out sooner than later. It's my own "lost in translation" song. I throw it on, sit on the couch, and give my mind a chance to think about nothing at all. This Essential Mix is doing just that for me right now.
The download is included in this stream. I really recommend it.

Forgotten News.
Recently I've been filling the time watching documentaries. I just came across a well done piece on the demise of News Of The World and Rupert Murdoch. Strange how the mainstream news eats up stories and then spits them out shortly after.. I haven't heard anything about this situation recently. Not to mention what happened to that whole Wikileaks saga.. Not a word has been said in the recent time.
