mixing melodies.

tonight my friend ian, who co-runs voulesrandom.com dropped by for our usual monday night hang out/creative musical writing session, and asked me to do a very last minute mix that he had to submit tonight. he arrived with a bottle of italian red he had selected the other day, a pound of fists, and a nice conversation back and forth over my trunk/coffee table. two cigarettes, a glass or two of wine, and a sweaty undershirt (rid of it's un buttoned button up shirt mid set) later, it ended in this.

i've grown a new found love for what i like to call 'casbah influenced electro jamz', and played around with them for the first time tonight.. it's overly 'electronic', but if that's what you're after, take this with you for your journey! it will be streamed live on last.fm this saturday. i'll also be playing a jazz influenced night with rob vilar and mikey mmmuscles (mike b) on the 2nd floor of ragpickers that night.

this day has been very high paced but low key at the same time. doing so much, but nothing at all. i found out the other day that i get to open for one of my favorite djs, felix cartal. just a little little excited. other than that, i started grinding a fresh kilo of new espresso, ate some cheese, made a melody, and sat in a white recliner, looking out the window with a blank stare of contemplation (contemplating nothing at all), whilst sipping some '03 bordeaux. pardon the pointlessness of this post. here are some photos that are somewhat thematic of this afternoon..
